Key Scriptures Defending Biblical Doctrine

There is only one true God

Comment: Many "gods" are mentioned throughout scripture, but are either references to the false gods and idols, or are ironic statements (in contrast to Mormonism's polytheistic doctrines.)

Isaiah 44:6-8
Deuteronomy 4:35, 39
Deuteronomy 6:4
Mark 12:29
Romans 3:30
Ephesians 4:5-7
1 Timothy 2:5
James 2:19

Jesus is God (Trinity)

Comment: The doctrine of the Trinity is a synthesis of scriptural declarations that there is only one God, and yet that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are God. The fully-man/fully-God nature of Jesus is central to the trinitarian viewpoint.

Isaiah 9:6
Luke 24:52
John 1:1-3
John 10:30
Philippians 2:5-7
Colossians 2:9
Hebrews 1:3

The sinfulness of humanity

Comment: Central to a biblical understanding of the Gospel is the acknowledgment that all of humanity is utterly sinful and completely undeserving of God's grace, and that no effort of our part is capable of contributing in the least to our eternal destiny.

Isaiah 59:2
Isaiah 64:6
Mark 10:18
Romans 3:10-12
Romans 3:20-23
Romans 6:23

1 Peter 3:18

How one is saved. John 1:12
John 3:16
Acts 16:30
Romans 10:9-10

Salvation is by grace alone (not works).

Acts 15:11
Romans 11:6
Ephesians 2:8-9

Rejection of Christ brings condemnation. John 3:18

Warnings against false teachings / gospels / prophets / spirits.

Galatians 1:6-9
